Grateful for a Year in Southampton: My Story

The end of the Year is a time for reflection, a moment to look back on everything 2024 has brought. And what a year it has been for me!

Exactly a year ago I moved to Southampton. I did not know anyone, I was scared and lonely but I knew with a very strong gut feeling it was the right thing to do. I embraced my fear and the most amazing things started to happen. I met so many like-minded people. Made friends. Had amazing experiences and became a part of the local community. I am so grateful for all those people who helped me and guided me in many different ways.

A massive thank you to my friend Tanya for inspiring me continuously, supporting me always, and being a very passionate ideas generator. Thank you to Alex, my talented and dedicated web designer for your support.

But my very special, heartfelt thank you is to the City that welcomed me and became my home. It is the City of rich heritage, culture, integrity, and the best people.

My Southampton, I salute YOU!

With lots of love,

Yana De Lilac
