I am generally not a big fan of tribute bands. But I love, love, love Depeche Mode—you can probably tell from the title of my website! 🙂
Depeche Mode doesn’t tour often enough, usually every 4–5 years when a new album comes out. Since moving to the UK, I have never missed one of their gigs.
Some dedicated fans created a niche and formed a band called Devout (depechemodetribute.co.uk), and they are honestly brilliant.
Over the years, I’ve followed their gigs in London, Bournemouth, Winchester, and Southampton—of course. In fact, Devout is the reason I visited Southampton for the first time, when I saw them perform at The 1865 (the1865.store), and that experience changed my life.
That’s why seeing them again last weekend at the same venue was so special. It was also incredible to hear them perform Walking In My Shoes—one of my favorites.
Devout gigs aren’t just about the amazing music of Depeche Mode; they’re also about the community of like-minded people. You get to know people, make friends, and share in the love of the music.
So I want to say a huge thank you to Berkeley, Rezza, and Keith for what they do, for the joy they bring to the fans, and for bringing Southampton into my life. A special thank you to the beautiful Nikita (Rezza’s wife) for being so much fun!
Check out the Devout website for their upcoming gigs and new merchandise, and visit The 1865 website for more events—I absolutely love that venue.
With love, as always,
Yana De Lilac
