I am always looking for something different to do in Southampton.
And I was interested to learn more about good whisky.
Whisky has never been my choice of drink, but later, I realised that I just hadn’t tried the right type, and I was curious to explore.

I bought a ticket straight away.

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society is for sure a members’ club with a personality and an attitude that I love.

They position themselves as unconventional whisky experts, seeking out whisky in its purest form, valuing flavour above all else, and giving each bottling a curious name. And I found this description very accurate.

We tasted 6 types of whisky with the most adventurous names and flavours :

Caramel Cascade
Skoopy Stroopwafel
Spruce on the Loose (my favourite)
Japanese Car or Norwegian Cheese
Cocktails Nearby
Peaceful Vineyard Walks

I was amazed by the creativity of the people who came up with this 🙂

Even though I was the least experienced in whisky knowledge at this event, I still had a great time, learnt a lot, met great people, and tasted good whisky.

The only thing I was missing was cheese and oat cakes to complement the drinks. Also with an ABV of 50% plus (60.5% the highest), I was careful 🙂

Would I go to their next event? Absolutely!
