I am packing for next week’s cruise holidays as we speak.
The process started weeks ago. The truth is, packing gets me stressed.
I am not a minimalist, and I don’t have a capsule wardrobe. I always bring things just in case for all possible scenarios. I like to make my cabin or hotel room into a temporary home by bringing flowers, candles, etc.
I need to write a list of outfits and other things to bring.
I do not want to be like that, and I am working on this a lot. I am hugely inspired by people who can travel anywhere with one small bag.
I can highly recommend this book by Light Watkins: https://www.goodlifeproject.com/podcast/light-watkins-travel-light-spiritual-minimalism/#podcast_content
I consistently work on decluttering my belongings, my mind, and my social environment. It is not an easy process, but I am improving with time.
But for now, I am getting stressed by packing. 🙂
One of the great things about cruising is unlimited luggage. You can bring as many suitcases as you can fit into your cabin as long as each suitcase weighs no more than 23 kg. I love cruises because they are an amazing opportunity to wear evening dresses and heels and be extravagant and creative.
For non-cruise travelling, I love this packing formula; it works well.
The 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 packing method
This method suggests packing five tops, four bottoms, three dresses, two pairs of shoes, one hat, one watch, and one pair of sunglasses.28 You can adjust the formula based on your type of holiday.
One good packing tip I learnt is to roll your clothes. It saves space and is kinder to clothes’ creasing.
I would like to know if you have any interesting tips on adequate packing.
But for now, I keep on packing. 🙂
With Love as Always,
Yana De Lilac
