If you were to be a painting, which painting would you be?

Discovering this quote was like uncovering a hidden gem! It resonated with me and sparked a deep, meaningful connection that truly inspired me:

“I am an artist at living – my work of art is my life” by Suzuki, a Japanese philosopher and scholar of Zen Buddhism.

I was thinking about my life, all the artists, and paintings that I love. There are so many that resonate with me, touch me, and inspire me. My love for art is diverse, spanning various styles such as Impressionism, Surrealism, Fauvism, Cubism, and Abstract. The list of artists that I love is endless.

It was a challenging journey to select a single painting from the myriad that always uplifts me and fills me with joy. That painting is “Over the Town” by Marc Chagall. The painting is about passionate, yet tender and inspiring love for Bella, his wife and muse for 29 years. You can see an image of the two lovers flying over the city. They appear to blend into one whole. Their love is uplifting in all possible ways. They are brightly coloured compared to the dull colours of the town and houses. There is a feeling of magic and reality in contrast. Love can make you fly above the mundane and dull.

“Only love interests me, and I am only in contact with things that revolve around love.”
— Marc Chagall

My hope for all my readers is that you will find a love that can lift you, just as art has done for me.

With Love as always,

Yana De Lilac

Your post really got me thinking, and I share your passion for art! If I had to choose, I’d go with Eugenia Gapchinska’s ‘I’m Flying.’ Her work fills me with such happiness, warmth, and makes me smile. While her paintings aren’t deeply philosophical, they remind us of something important – to appreciate the simple things in life, reconnect with our inner child and sense of wonder, and above all, spread love to those around us
