On a vintage home style

“What do you like most about your furniture business, and how did you get into this?” I was seriously curious to learn. “I love the history of an item and what story it could tell. Sharing my passion helps you see the value in vintage pieces and feel inspired to find your own stories in furniture. I got into this business because my parents were in the antiques business, and I also have an interest in English history. I particularly like English furniture from 1700 to the present day.” I was talking to David, owner of the TattyBox https://www.facebook.com/100063270668385/

Moving into my own new home allowed me to style it just as I always wanted – with vintage furniture that tells a story and reflects my personality. I invite you to find pieces that speak to you and make your space truly yours.

David knows everything about every item he delivers. It is such a great pleasure buying from him – carefully chosen, looked-after items with history “I am always wondering about the definition of a vintage as opposed to an antique”, I asked. “Vintage is an item up to 100 years old, and an antique is anything older than that. Retro is any item post-war from the 1940s onwards, so that it could be vintage and retro”

Why choosing such a way of furnishing your home is a simple choice –

  • You make history live.
  • You choose a story, not just an item.
  • Surprisingly, vintage furniture is often more affordable than modern options (I don’t even consider Ikea here) and offers solid, enduring quality that you can trust. It is solid, superb quality.

I am now a proud owner of an Edwardian writing desk, an Edwardian drinks cabinet, a 1940s chair with a war stamp, a Chester’s drawer unit, and a 1970s bookcase. Most importantly, I cherish the stories behind each piece, which make them truly special. I hope these stories inspire you to find your own meaningful pieces.

With Love as Always,
