On changing the January mindset

Traditionally, January is not an easy month – winter blues start kicking in, and I crave sun and light, remembering summer holidays and spending more time inside than usual.

But this year, I am trying to change my mindset. Especially with yesterday’s first full moon of the year, it is an excellent time to let go of what no longer serves you and to acquire new habits. I know many of us feel the same, and I hope sharing this helps you feel less alone in these feelings.

One of the things I want to do more of this year is dance because dancing makes me happy. You could try dancing in your living room, joining a local class, or even just moving to your favorite song. As simple as that.
And I remembered my personal number 1 dance hit for 2025 that I came across in Bulgaria. And bingo, that could not be a better manifesto for me for 2026.
Once again, quoting my favourite Depeche Mode: words are very unnecessary, so I’ll share the words and the link to listen.

Maesic & Marshall Jefferson – Life Is Simple (Move Your Body) feat. Salomé Das (Visualizer) Helix

If you don’t like something, change it

If you don’t like your job, quit

If you don’t have enough time, stop watching TV

Life is simple

If you’re lookin’ for the love of your life, stop

They won’t be waiting for you when you start doing things you love

Stop overanalysing

Life is simple

Maybe this song and dancing with it could also help you get through January and make 2026 a better year. Let it be a reminder that small actions can lead to positive change, and you have the power to shape your year.

With Love as Always,
Yana De Lilac
