On procrastination, likes, and growing cucumbers

Yana De Lilac is back after a summer off.

To be honest, I can be a secret procrastinator, even though I am proactive on many occasions.

I can be easily distracted by reading or by watching my favourite episodes of The Big Bang Theory or Frazer.

So my summer break took longer than anticipated. I enjoyed trips to Cowes for sea swimming and reading. I surprised myself and others by growing cucumbers, potatoes, and herbs on the balcony—a very interesting discovery for a true city girl.

Maybe I am finally growing up in my 50s.

But when several subscribers told me it had been a while since my last article and that I needed to act, it was a much-needed wake-up call.

It also touched me that people care and are waiting for me to share my thoughts and experiences.

I have been up and down a few times about the purpose of my writing and whether I should continue.

Despite suggestions to go on Facebook or Instagram, I wanted my very targeted audience, my little community of like-minded people, rather than competition for likes, and I think I achieved just that.

So I’m back; I am full of new ideas, and I am grateful to everyone who reminded me to get back to my writing.

You mean so much to me.

With Love as Always,

Yana De Lilac
