This week, I was invited to attend the grand opening of De Ja Vu, an Indian restaurant located in the most iconic building in Southampton. It is a Grade II listed building situated at the entrance to the former Royal Pier.
The evening was amazing, full of community spirit, great-quality food, and outstanding entertainment. I’m talking about the ribbon cutting by the Lord Mayor, fireworks, traditional Indian drummers, and fire dancers. It was truly a night to remember!
I love the passion that the owners of De Ja Vu, brothers Imran and Fahim, share for providing high-quality food, exceptional customer service, and their commitment to looking after this very special building.
At the top of the building, you can spot a pineapple. I was curious to learn more about this.
The pineapple holds various symbolic meanings across cultures. In some, it is considered a symbol of hospitality, welcome, and good fortune. Its spiky exterior additionally conveys a sense of protection.
I sincerely hope that the pineapple will bring luck to De Ja Vu and would like to wish Imran and Fahim prosperity, success, and loyal customers. I am excited to follow their story.
