Grand Opening of De Ja Vu: A Night in Southampton

This week, I was invited to attend the grand opening of De Ja Vu, an Indian restaurant located in the most iconic building in Southampton. It is a Grade II listed building situated at the entrance to the former Royal Pier.

The evening was amazing, full of community spirit, great-quality food, and outstanding entertainment. I’m talking about the ribbon cutting by the Lord Mayor, fireworks, traditional Indian drummers, and fire dancers. It was truly a night to remember!

I love the passion that the owners of De Ja Vu, brothers Imran and Fahim, share for providing high-quality food, exceptional customer service, and their commitment to looking after this very special building.

At the top of the building, you can spot a pineapple. I was curious to learn more about this.

The pineapple holds various symbolic meanings across cultures. In some, it is considered a symbol of hospitality, welcome, and good fortune. Its spiky exterior additionally conveys a sense of protection.

I sincerely hope that the pineapple will bring luck to De Ja Vu and would like to wish Imran and Fahim prosperity, success, and loyal customers. I am excited to follow their story.

I do love this place! When I visited recently, the new owners Fahim and Imran made me feel very welcome. You know that kind of welcome you get from a restaurant near home, ‘your local’, and you grow a relationship which feels like a kind of friendship? It felt like that, but still had the glam and class of the pier building making it feel special with really great food, personalised to my “I am a wimp for spice” needs. Was the perfect mix for me.
